Victor Davis Hanson on “The Case for Trump”

Revised: On March 7, 2019, the Hoover Institution YouTube channel featured a discussion on the book “The Case for Trump” by Victor Davis Hanson. In this book, Hanson, an award-winning historian and regular contributor on Fox News, explains how Donald Trump, a businessman with no political or military experience, was able to defeat 16 Republican rivals, a well-funded Democrat, and a hostile media and establishment to become one of the most successful presidents in history. Hanson also discusses the rise and fall of globalization and its impact on the West in his book “A Primer: Globalization.” In another interview with Mark Levin, Hanson explains how Trump’s outsider status and his focus on the working people of America’s interior set him apart from traditional politicians and allowed him to bring about much-needed policy changes. While Trump’s presidency may be volatile, Hanson argues that after years of political stagnation, America needs an outsider like Trump to shake things up and bring about real change.
